Renton is a dreamer. His idols are machine pilots from an organization named Gekko State who pilot so called LFOs (Light Finding Operation). Renton's favorite pilot is Holland. When Holland was a child he had a flying surfboard on what he performed amazing stunts. Renton bought a replica of his board and tried really hard to become such a skilled air surfer like him.

This is the only leisure activity that is fun in the boring town our protagonist lives in. Everything seems boring or annoying to Renton until a special LFO crashes into his room someday. A pretty girl gets out of the machine and Renton's life changes...
